This is the only one that is located in Rajgarh tehsil of Sirmaur district. Churdhar also known as Chur-Chandni, Chur parwat and Chur Peak. The height of its sea level is approximately 12,000 feet. It is the highest peak of Sirmaur. Thousands of tourists visit here every year for the visit of God Bholenath on this peak by the name Churdhar. This journey, which has been passing through the beautiful Mountains , has been going on for centuries.
Apart from this, there are vast forests around this peak and the population is very low. Churdhar is considered as the place of Shri Shirulg Maharaj. Here the temple of Shirgul Maharaj is also located. Shirgul Maharaj is the god of Sirmaur and Chaupal.
How to reach Shirgul Maharaj
There are many ways to reach Churdhar and you can choose any way. Mainly people reach the road through the way. It takes about 18 kilometers of footsteps from Nauradhar. You can also reach Churdhar by the Sharahan of the district Shimla, from where it has to travel about 9 kilometers.
Apart from this, Chungdhar can also be reached from the Taraha of District Sirmaur, for which it has to travel about 12 kilometers. After traveling such a walk, when you reach the refuge of Shirgul Maharaj and see the panoramic view of it, all your fatigue will be eradicated. The hills covered with forests attract travelers’ minds.
The highest peak along with the temple is called LING TIBBA Dune and from here the Himalayas and its associated mountain ranges can be seen. Along with this, the plain areas of Ambala, Yamunanagar can also be seen. It has also been arranged for lodging and food for the passengers. ATMs, hospitals and other basic amenities are available in the town
History of Churdhar mountain
To save devotees from snake Bholanath did wonders here
A devotee of Churu, came to the temple here. Meanwhile, suddenly a huge snake came out of the middle of the big stones. He ran to kill Churu and his son. At the same time, Father’s son tried to escape but could not escape from the snake. Then they prayed for protection from Lord Shiva. Lord Bholenath miraculously left a part of the giant stone on the snake, where he died there.After this, Shivbhakt went home from here. It is said that since then the name of this name has been Churdhar. The welfare of people increased for this temple and religious tourism started here.
