Almora is well connected by roads with major cities and towns of the northern India. Buses to Almora, Haldwani or Kathgodam can be taken from ISBT Anand Vihar, Delhi and ISBT Dehradun. Almora is connected with NH87 and NH87E. The distance from Dehradun is approx 395 km while the distance from Delhi is approx 370 km. It takes around 2.5 to 3 hours to reach Almora by taxi and about 3.5 hours by bus. From Haldwani, you may use shared taxi or bus, or hire private taxi, Roadways/KMOU buses from Haldwani to Almora, which run in regular interval. Almora is about 90 km from Haldwani. You can also get taxis and buses from Kathgodam but Haldwani is a better option instead of Kathgodam.
Kathgodam is the nearest railway station which is about 83 km. Kathgodam is well connected to many major cities like Lucknow, New Delhi, Kolkata, Dehradun. From Kathgodam you can get taxis and buses to Almora.
The fastest way to travel to Almora. Pantnagar airport is the nearest airport for the nearby places such as Nainital, Corbett National Park, Ranikhet and Almora, and from Pantnagar airport taxis and buses are easily available to reach these places. Almora is about 115 km from Pantnagar.
If you choose to travel to Almora from Haldwani by a shared Alto it will charge you Rs. 250/300 per person or Sumo’s vehicle which will charge Rs 175/200. Roadways and KMOU buses are also available and no advance booking is required. KMOU buses charge Rs. 125 and Roadways Rs. 170.
